The verdict

Steelcase designed the Gesture around how people really sit with devices, and its arms pivot almost anywhere you want them. It's the comfiest of the big three for people who lean, curl up or switch between keyboard and phone constantly. It looks more corporate than the Herman Millers, but the comfort is hard to argue with.

Why we like it

  • +Highly adjustable arms that follow you
  • +Plush, upholstered comfort
  • +Good recline that keeps you close to the desk

Worth knowing

  • –Corporate looks
  • –Upholstered back sits warmer than mesh
  • –Pricey once you add options
